I apologize to everyone who has contacted me. I've been busy with family and work. I pretty much stopped taking melacor. My melasma has lighted and I don't think about it anymore. I can cover it with foundation. I guess I had decided that I was tired of letting it consume my life and started living. I will say that I have cleaned up my diet and try to eat organic as much as possible. I do not drink soda, only coffee, tea, or water. I try to stay away from processed foods. I will try to put a new picture on here this weekend without makeup.

I haven't been here for a while, have been dealing with some health issues. I am recently dx hypothyroid and I have a nodule on the left side. Waiting to hear back to schedule a biospy.

I've added folapro, B12, and longevinex (trans-resveratrol) to my supplements. I will give an update in 3 months. I don't think I can be fair in giving an assessment any sooner.

I have to say with it being August, that my melasma is light and I do not see the occasional darkening I used to see.

That was an interesting article. I rarely drink soda. But i am writing because i was on the skincare RX forum and read your posts there. I never connected you with the Pam on that site. I hope the others from there also join this tribe. I will remember to check this site regularly from now on and myabe post a picture too.

I also stopped using anything except moisturiser and sunscreen. i am using whatever moisturiser i have on hand.
in the morning i use Eucerin SPF 30 first, then i use Photoderm Max 50+ SPF tinted on top of that. i seldom reapply during the day. i don't see the melasma getting worse on this routine ao it can't be bad.
i don't want to try Cosmelan because most people peel and burn. scary. and they have to use it forever too. i don't want to be so dependent on something. hope mine clears up too, even a little

I have stopped using junk on my face and very slowly it is going away. I can put fake tan on my face where there is no melasma and when I look in the mirror I can hardly notice the melasma. I think the best thing to do is to be very careful with what we use on our face and to use sunscreen every day.

Yes, I can't imagine the amount of money spend.

My routine that I have found the best until something good comes along:

Mild soap. Mild toner...because water is acidic and you need (I have found) it is best to shoot for stability not agitaion with this odd skin thing. Then at night olive oil as lotion (I buy it from dhc..its supposedly pure or whatever but I am sure anything without ahas and stuff is good. Then I only use physical sunblocks not chemical. Again, shoot for keeping your skin not abraided or reddened whatso ever. When marketing says you will look fresh, they mean that your skin surface will be scraped off. This is not good because I feel that tender skin is really ripe to become "bad" easily.

Hi, I am new. Have had "it" for the past 10 years. I have tried lots of stuff and ended up making it worse with harsh treatments. I agree with you. Mine isn't gone but I don't experience flare ups and it is pretty good. I used mild soap by dhc skincare...their who line is very mellow and includes olive oil for lotion...very nice. Also, I don't go for the parsol stuff in spf because I have found chemical sunscreens bad news. Wish someone would find the cure. Hate even thinking about it, although now I am much kinder to myself and less ashamed.

For a few months now I have stopped using junk on my face. All I use is Ivory soap, Ponds cold cream, Oil of Olay daily moisturizer, Maybelline Wonder Finish, and my melasma is about 50% lighter. I really think just being gentle to our skin and not to use harsh chemicals is the answer. I let you know how it is in a few months.

Five days ago I started drinking a mix I bought at a whole health food market. Three days ago I noticed that the end of my nose was hurting. I looked in the mirror and it looks red, kinda looks like it is burnt. Could it be from the detox mix? Any advice as to how I can determine why I have this sore tender area on my nose? I did fall asleep with makeup on one night, but I've done that many times befor.

In 1992 I had a little melasma on my cheeks, I could live with, just looked like brown freckles. I remember I had a zit on my upper lip. I took very hot water and tried to wash off the zit. The result was burnt skin. The area turned brown, then grey and did not go away. When I was younger I used nair to remove hair between my eyebrows and now it is brown there, scarred, damaged. Above my eyes I plucked my eyebrows and it would turn very red. I now have brown there. Last week I had a zit under my lip, I did a no no, and squeezed. Now it is brown, scarred. So now I wonder, if my skin is this sensitive, how will an acid clear it up? I have done nothing to my upper lip for the last year and it seems to be going away there, can hardly notice it. Please share what you have noticed, I am interested, and would love to hear your experience.
